Our First Day

Brittany here: Today was an amazing first day, not including the early arrival. Our plan landed at around 12:45am, and we got to the hotel around 2:30am. We ended up wait for the shuttle for about half an hour because it passed us the first time thinking we weren’t there. So it had to come back and get us. When we woke up, it was 9:00am; we hadn’t gotten a wake up call at 8:45 like we had asked. So it was a rush to get ready and go get breakfast since it was only open until 9:30. Once we had all taken showers after breakfast and we gathered all our stuff, the shuttle took us to the light rail where we rode to Chinatown. The hostel we are staying in is in Chinatown, so it was very cool to go look around in shops. After stowing our luggage in our rooms, we went across the street to the grocery store so we could gather supplies for tonight’s dinner. We brought all our ingredients back to the hostel before going to lunch at the food court. We all had huge, Asian lunches. They were all delicious! Once we had all finished lunch, we caught the bus to the Pike Place Market. It was amazing to walk down the market place and see everything for sale. There were so many fish and produce! We also had to go to the Original Starbucks. It was cool to just walk in and think that you are standing in the first Starbucks. After our adventure through the market, we handed back to the hostel to get dinner started. We planned on doing a spaghetti dinner for us and about fifteen people. We ended up cooking for a little over an hour and a half. More people showed up than we had expected, so we barely had enough food. It was nice getting to meet different people from around the world. We meet people from the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and China. The clean up took forever, but it was so worth it. It’s not every day that you get to talk to someone from around the world. Now, we are separated out in our different rooms and ready for a good night’s sleep.
